Went up to Bribie Saturday afternoon to throw some poppers and slugs off the beach. For around 2 hrs not a touch or a follow on either slugs or the popper. Put the popper back on just as the shadows from the trees started to cover the water and whoosh a bronze fish of about 6 foot nailed the popper and for 2 seconds was on. before the line parted, next time I take the heavier gear and leave the 6lb at home.
Now i remember why I love poppers..

A bronze fish? Sounds like a shark to me, shame you couldnt stay connected ah well thats fishing. Better luck next time.

id say bronze whaler.... the only other fish i cna think of is shovel nose but ther not renowned popper takers... and the teeth wud explain y ur line was cut so easily
