star fish in trap

I finaly had a chance to check my trap yesterday after 2 days . its a wire mesh trap so if there was anything in it would still be alive and any under size fish or crabs can be released.
when I pulled the trap up there were 4 blue swimmers (yum yum) and 11 big star fish inside the trap. its not the first time but catching so many star fish in one hit has got me thinking what do star fish eat my thoughts were sea-weed but looks like their going for stinking crab bait. ??

Most starfish are voracious hunters, preying on other animals, particularly clams, corals, other echinoderms, or anything else unlucky enough to cross their path. 'Got this from a starfish webiste'

Their time scale is just much slower then ours. Saw a documentary of a heap of starfish in fast motion. You could see them searching and chasing prey, and interacting with each other. They just move so slowly that to us, they seem to always be dormant.

strange to have so many, must be some special crab bait

what was the bait out of curiosity?
