20 May Peel Wonderful day Boating and Fishing

Headed out from Vicky Point boat ramp at 6:30am with my darling wife for my Birthday trip. The day started off very SLOW. We fished at Macleay and Goat it was time to head to Peel as we had no bites or could not find bait. Once we got to Peel there was some surface action and lots of bait on the sounder but we still had no bites. I was starting to think about heading home then about 8:30am I get a small bite and a smallish run. I was thinking small squire around 35cm this fish came very to the boat. Surprise, surprise 35cm Squire turned into a 60cm upgraded one this model I could like. I have been told that the bigger ones don’t always put up that much of a fight. This fish just have might have been very lazy.
Brent and Jim pop in so we grouped up; it’s always good to have your mates around too. I never thought Grinners could pull drag until today. Jim and I nearly started a comp for the biggest Grinner.
    Today’s Catch
    1 x Squire 60cm
1 x Schoolie which was just legal
    1 x Brim
    1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 Grinners
    Today’s Weapons
    ¼ 3/0 heavy wire jigs
Zooms in Baby bass this was the only SP that worked today for me.

I went home happy tried and sun brunt.

    Nice Report Steve,
You showed us up today and you put in the hours so deserve a good fish like that 60cm squire.
We travelled all over the western bay for nothing but GRINNERS !!!!.
Oh well was one of those slow fishing days but great for boating.
We can't complain about the top conditions on the Bay today.
    Absolutley marvellous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry the pic doesn't do the fish justice but not a bad effort mate.
    Cheers Brent

Happy birthday mate, and it sounds like a great day but mate you must have the patience of a saint actually counting all those grinners, did you get a calculator for your birthday?
