mud island mon 22nd
i arrived at mud just as the first blush of the dawn was on the horizon. i fished the eastern side concentrating on the outside reef ring in search of some larger squire. only managed one keeper at 42cm and half a dozen undersize also caught 3 or 4 cod (lets not mention the grinners). at one point as i came up close to the reef edge i got a hit on the plastic and the fight had me calling it for a cod however when it came to the surface it turns out to be a small wobbygong which was a first for me. as the sun rose and the squire slowed i headed into the lee of the island and threw some poppers up onto the rubble flats with the 2kg gear insearch of a bream or two. i failed to see any bream but did nail a nice GT of 52cm in just enough water to cover his back and then got busted off next cast by a similar fish. finished the morning by pulling 3 nice chopper tailor out of a drain on a plastic. quite a nice morning on the bay . will be back soon to continue my quest for that 60cm+ pinky
