fished out from the brissy river today with not much luck (might have been cause i didnt get to the ramp till about 7am heh) headed out to mud and spun up 1 small watsons to keep for bait. mud was dead so i headed over to the beacons directly north of mud and found a massive school of bait on the sounder being circled by birds but there was no fish action. about 2 mins later the water erupted with fish and i could have touched the 6-7kg mac tuna just smashing up the bait. i threw a 20 g slug into them 3 times with no luck so i picked up the new combo a egrell s2 2-4kg spin rob with a daiwa sol 2500 with 10lb braid on it. it had an ecogear 5" minnow on it and i threw that into the fish and 2 twitches of the rod and i was on. 30mins later which 20 mins of that was right at the boat i had him in the net. not sure of weight but i am thinking around 10-11kg he was 96cm long. very happy with the rod reel and line as it was wrapped around the prop for a few frantic minutes. stoked with my first ever longtail.
I bet they were frantic minutes with the braid around the prop and the adrenalin flowin Matt. Would have wet the appetite for more I'm sure. Well done!
