    mud island thurs june 1

i left pinkenba at 5am for a beautiful trip out to mud. after watching seebreeze all week i expected a bit of chop from the souwester but it turned out to be dead flat. arrived at the s/e corner of mud just as the first glow of dawn was on the horizon. score 3 quick tailor on poppers in close to the wall. there were heaps of mullet schooled in close and the tailor were getting stuck into them. left the tailor biting and went in search of a squire on plastic.....well fished right through to midday and didn't see one. maybe i've upset the snapper gods or something. however i did boat 2 lovely parrot (42cm and 46cm) which will make lovely chewing tonight!

I would prefer to catch parrot (Tuskies?) to snapper any day.

That is a lovely couple of fish. Well done!

Richard your not the only one - was out there yesterday avo/night and caught prob 3-4 tailor, 1.5-2m shark (species unk) and no squire to be seen. They must move in and out of the area hey. Couldnt be nothing to do with our fishing techniques - surely

i've been putting in quite a bit of time on my current holy grail( 70cm+ squire) of late and it seems my results are inversly proportional to the effort put in.
i'll keep at it sooner or later my luck has to change
    cheers
