    1st Jack

went out from Cleveland last night about sunset, headed over to Peel and casted around a couple of spots for not much and some undersize grasslip. Had a new bloke with us who was showing both me and the skipper up, pulling in plenty of just under size squire. gave up after high tide with the wind picking up to about 15 knots and some big thunderstorms threatening. After being out voted we decided to stop in at the mouth of the raby bay canal. Casting at the rock wall for some baby bream and moses pearch, then bang, I landed a bream around 30cm, thinking hey this is getting better. #

Then not long after BANG, I thought, shit this is a better bream, running and splashing, bring it up to the boat, and it's a JACK, a first one for me, 37cm, landed on 6lb fireline with a 9lb leader, on a bit of fresh squid.

Followed that up with a 35cm bream that was almost as big, and a couple of just under Eastury cods.

A fine finish to the night. Also got a squid, on squid!

    Juzo,,

    Congrats on ya first Jack.

The problem now is that you know how quick and hard they can go. I would say that you have now got the bug. See ya on the water in summer when those storms are rolling in

    cheers

Nice fish Juzo. Like the other boys said there will be alot of long nights in summer waiting for that big hit. The first 1 drags you in then jack fishin takes over your summer. Were you guys fishing out of 1 of Drews attack boats?

    Cheers Whytey
If you wish to learn more about reading and getting the most from your Lowrance units or learning more about fishing with artificial baits I will come out in the comfort of your own boat for one on one coaching. Please call for more information.

Hey Whytey, Juzo was fishing out of my boat. Met you at the boat ramp. Was good to put a name to a face. On our wet trip back from Peel he wasn't too keen to keep fishing. Isn't he glad now that we did.

Yeah I reckon I'm pretty well hooked on the jack fishing now, and Fish_Crazy's boat is a pretty good platform to work from for that kind of fishing. Am still buzzing from the catch 4 days later.

Hey Whytey, was that you we were yacking about shallow snapper fishing round peel Island?

I liken catchin your first jack on light tackle with having sex for the first time.

    Something you never forget.
