Had my first serious spin for tailor for a few weeks today in the gutters between Teewah and the river mouth. There are some good formations with the occasional rock and plenty of whitewater from a 1m groundswell.
Went down this morning at about 10 o'clock and spun the length of a gutter before striking a nice fish at the very far end of it. Was in the 2 - 2.5kg bracket and was released. Was the only fish from a lot of casting for the morning. Decided to try again with the late afternoon incoming tide and again cast my arm off for 3 tailor around the 2kg mark. The first of which I kept (photos) and measured 60cm and had a very immature roe.
Will give it another go in the morning to see if first light is any better.
