    Very nice fish Lindsay. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

There goes the old theory of the bigger fish being caught at night.

If you need someone to hold the camera I dont think you would have too much trouble finding about 20 Ausfishersoffering to do it if they can get into a fish like that during the day on lures.

By the way what size Slider were you using?

    Cheers

    Re: Tailor Today - Teewah

    Wednesday Morning.

Went down before sunrise a little sore in the shoulders and back and a quite tender casting finger. Was pretty damn cool too with a bit of a land breeze.
Spun in 2 locations for a total of about half an hour without a strike and was home for hot coffee before 7.
Was a fairly nice sunrise so have posted pics.
Horse I haven't met anyone yet that will hold the camera when there is fish in the gutter in front of them and I hardly think that guys from Ausfish will be too much of an exception.
Not aware of that old theory of the bigger fish being caught at night mate. It must be one somebody dreamed up recently so he could have the gutters to himself during the day. I would think that the weekends when there is more traffic on the beach, the night fishing would help in that sense.
And hey guys, I'm cooped up in the office for the rest of the day and only go down at certain points in the tide for an hour or 2. And I have to get away from the birdlife with spangled drongos, kookaburras, magpies, butcher birds, fig birds etc always harrassing me for food. Pecking at my casting finger and getting me up every morning at first light. It's not all fun and games.
Neil, have been using the 45g slider when the tide is lower and the water calmer, and the 65g when it is fuller and more boisterous and both sizes have caught fish. It's not a good idea to use big heavy lures in calm conditions. If I was to in order to match bait size I'd use the 55g which performs more like a 65g Raider and breaks the surface regularly and casts as far or further than the Raider. The 45g is good when it is fairly calm but with an onshore breeze in that it's heavy enough to get cast distance, but small enough to draw a strike in calmish conditions. When it is very calm I use the 40g. The 25g is used almost exclusively out of boats. The 65g can be cranked at high speed in almost any conditions without bouncing out of control on the surface.
Which is what I've been doing - cranking everything at high speed. Taking into account sweep that adds speed to a retrieve and wave action on the line and back off when I need to in order to maintain control of the lure. Otherwise it's flat out. Big tailor like the speed and I don't generally spin for choppers. The drop backs aren't as successful on big tailor and all the fish caught this week have been at full tilt and I would have seen, I think every hook up. I wanted to demonstrate (again)that good tailor can be taken during the day on spinners and that sliders are the best way to do it and I think I've been able to do that.

Hey Les, sent you a pm, but nice looking tailor mate and am looking forward to spinning down that way.

Hi Slider, geez, you've been knocking over some solid greenbacks up there mate...great stuff!

Sorry, you've probably explained yourself a zillion times, but what's the deal with these sliding slug rigs? Do you rig them on heavy mono? Also, what the hook setup? 2 single hooks appears to be how you're doing it? Don't like trebles? If not, why not?

Also, are the slider slugs available for purchase anywhere?

    Cheers mate, and great work!

    Red Bull,

I would say that to answer your questions it would be best if you read posts - 'Spinning for tailor' - satwater chat. 'Sliders - how to make' - tackle section. Most of the answers are in spinning for tailor.
Mate any questions you have after reading there I would be happy to answer. Otherwise is a long winded reply.

    Cheers

Thanks F2E, and Lindsay, all the info I require appears to be that thread! And what informative and entertaining reading it is too Lindsay. Thanks again. I'll swing you an email when I have more questions relating to procurement of aforementioned slugs

Well, have just been for a run to town and who should I run into at the ferry but my good mates the beach seine netters. They indicated to me that they caught 2 tonnes today. At least that's what I think they meant with 1 finger raised on each hand.
Anyway, they definitely shot the nets at the northern end and now nobody is catching anything down there this afternoon and there are no dart to be seen in the waves again.
Seems only fair that for 2 tonnes of catfood, we anglers are left out in the cold for the next 4 months.
Is time we started bombing DPI with emails showing our disapproval.

    Linds,
Did ya get the email re the weekend, nice to see you still getting a few , but things might just come to a stop now the netters have been through. The netters may have been trying to tell you that there was an interesting aircrarft above with the finger jestures. . Couldn't see any fish in the waves(Tailor) over the weekend so didn't throw a slider just fished for bread and butter fish. Might be an idea to post the email address to send our disapproval of the netters on D.I.
    Cheers

Barry, did get your email thank you and good to see you had fun. Parties were good but needed the next 3 days in the surf breathing that nice clean air to recover.
Seems amazing that every time I see the netters that there should be interesting aircraft overhead, but I guess that will explain the shouting. Oh, hang on,of course, that'll be their spotter plane so they can rape our ocean even more efficiently. Just hope it doesn't drop something on my house soon. One day I will catch a fish or 2 when they are here and I'll be able to give them a report back. Until then I will remain polite and courteous.

Went for a run up there yesterday afternoon to have a shot for some choppers. Forcast looked good and tides were just right for a dusk session. Wind was out of the north and surf was up a bit making fishing a bit difficult. Could only manage a few nice big dart, 1 bream and a grass sweetlip. Didn't get a hit on a pilly in about 3 hours fishing. Them's the breaks!
    cheers Freeeedom
