A bit of variety in The Broadwater.

    Hi All

Went for a fish with a fellow Ausfisher in the Broadwater and up the Nerang River. We started in the Seaway with a squire and a few flatties and then worked our way up river catching some good bream as we went. Found a ton of bream in one of the canals but they were as spooky as anything. Any lure that came near them would send them scattering in all directions.Caught a moses perch of one of the bridges behing the casino and a SCAT? Then got into some good Bream about midday and ended up with a 3 kg bag. Finished the day off with a 65cm flattie on the 4lb leader and a few smaller ones. A great day on the water and a few fish to make it worth the while, thanks to Chris for a top outing on his 475 Hornet, very nice boat to fish off. Makes a change from my little quinnie.

    Good fishing to you all
    Rod

Nice catch Rod! that Red/spotted scat is actually quite rare!! there are a lot of the striped ones around but you don't tend to get them on line much What plastic were you using to intise the scat?? you see both in the pet shops around at times and the spotted ones are usually twice as much as the striped..

    Cheers

    Hey Rod,

3kg is a nice Gold Coast bag, those canals behind the gambling place are great if the bream are on, and frustrating as hell when they don't want to play.

Lets hope they come out to play on the weekend, I think a couple of 3kg bags would get close to winning the comp.

I'll be down your way in a couple of weeks for some pre-fishing on the Tweed, it'll be mid-week before work, I'll give you a ring see if you are up for a flick.

    Speak to you soon.

    Cheers

    John

We never know how busy we are on fridays, sometimes chokkers sometimes quiet. Definateley not this wkend mate its wintersun festival 85000 people in Coolangatta. It will be pretty quiet after that so its a good time to come down. I will be chasing the Jewies up the Tweed again after the festival cos I will have a bit of time again. Havnt caught one for a while on plakkies so getting itchie. You must have a good trip to SA

Never seen a red scat before Rod...well done mate. Caught a few greenies meself on bait(despite them being classified as herbivores) but I didn't even know that red ones existed and I worked in the tropical fish trade for a number of years. We live and learn eh?

Attitude might not catch fish, but it helps when you don't.
