    Blown Away At Coochie

Wess and myself left Victoria Point ramp at 11.30pm last night for a second try around the red on the N/e side. We were anchored up for about 10mins when my shimano 4500 baitrunner started to peel line like so many times before. First fish of the night went 51cm . At this point I had noticed that Wess had forgot to drop the berley bucket down, and they are still going nutts over our nicly presented baits . After now dropping the bucket it wasn't anymore then 15mins I turned the sounder back on and the fish were just lined up , things were looking very good. Not long after Wess had a nice run, 4 mins later we boated a 47cm Squire. At this point I thought that I would try my secret bait, let it drift out about 20 mtrs off the back, then omg something picked it up and took off like a bull at a gate. It was bumping at every run had me thinking that it was a knobbie straight away, By the feel of it, it would have had to be about 6kg plus no SH%T. Because this is only shallow water I was getting worried that I might get rubbed off on the bottem, but it didn't, anyway I got it within about 7 mtrs from the boat when I told Wess to giv me some light. Suddenly it swam full speed toward the boat thus giving alot of slack, I quickly retreived that but by this point, the lucky son of a bi%$h had spat the hook > >. At first I didn't know to cry or do something silly, like throw my new outfit in the water , but I soon came to my senes and kept it in the boat. All up we had a good morning on the water with some nice fish in the esky.

Sounds like a good trip mate, and know how you feel . I have had a few problems lately on some sizeable snapper/squire.My problem has been with baitfishing for larger fish that after having them what I felt was well hooked and putting that slight bit more hurt i've pulled the hooks.anyone got a hook profile that has good solid hook up rate on bigger squire/snapper...?
