    1st Jack on sps

Went up to Noosa for short break getaway, without the kids. After doing all the right things and taking the missus out to tea and settling her in for the night ducked out to throw a few soft plastics around in the hopes of getting my first Bream on placcys. Went down to a place they called the marina (I think) and tossed 2" gulps around the boat ramps - pretty soon caught and released my first legal bream - going about 25cms.

After about a thousand more fruitless casts I put on a gulp that looks like a shrimp - they call them molts I think. Anyway a few casts later landed a good specimen.. 30cms to the fork... pretty rapped about that - heading back to the hotel and thought I'd have a few throws at the bridge pylons. 1st cast, perfect right at the base of the pylon.... let it sink..... twitch twitch... BANG solid hookup, thought it was a big bream tried to run me into the rocks but managed to turn him and up came my first ever Jack... man was I stoked!!

Sorry about the photos... was on my own in the dark...

Congrats Adamy. Top effort on your jack. Was it caught recently? Good old noosa seems to pump the jacks out better than most others...Cheers

Last night at about 12.15am... yeh I thought about you trying to chase winter jacks! As I said - my first ever - but I'll be hitting the bridge pylons and other structure pretty hard from now on! Although personally I think squire about the same size pull just as hard... perhaps Jacks are a bit sluggish in winter???

No it's just that jacks pull like pussys until they reach the 45 mark. A 40cm bream matches a 40cm jack in strength. It's only the speed that makes them harder to land. Hit em hard and early and you're chances are good. Onya mate

Thanks everyone...Yeh Gulp shrimp molt on 1/16 jig (I think... it was small anyway)- slow sink rate.
