    Flattie record

    > >
Had some visitors up from Vic on Sat and their 5yo G/daughter asked if we could go for a ride in the boat?
How could i say no, before I got the key Jake (my 5 yo) and her were on the deck, trolling rods in hand ready to go.

We did a little sight seeing then lures out, lets see if we can continue the form of.
It was slow, very slow and I was very concerned. We had pulled out 2 new lures to try and things weren;t looking good. All the usual haounts failed to produce a hit let alone a fish. One more run past old faithful and finally we found some queenies and a few small trevally.

Pelican Waters canals are slowly getting better but the fish are still on the snmall size.
200m from home we took our last run over the known flattie haunt were Jake best of 40cm was taken a month or so before.
A solid hit on the very quiet pink diver but no hook up. 25m later bang, it goes off again and Jake is up on the back deck and in action.
After a solid 5 min fight on the 6lb gear he'soated his best Flattie to date of 54cm.

My best so far this year is only 60cm, so I'd better ban him from the boat for a while.....

Very proud Dad - as long as he stays just behind me on the Tally board......

    Re: Flattie record

Dr Pod - Got his first rod for his 3rd bthday and had him in the vacant lot next door casting with a sinker.
his first fish was a bream, not legal, but he's been fishin mad ever since. The problem is getting him to keep the bait or his Sp in the water long enough at the moment, so were doing alot of trolling. He's upgraded his Jarvis walker to my abu amassador and killin them

JT, hes only as good as the skipper allows him to be.
I think its time he learns the Skipper - deckie rules...
Did you have a session today?

    Armoz,

If we drop you from the Team, is Jake available? Another good fish for him, he must have a good teacher

Yeah, we went out yesterday (sorry didn't get your text till 5am Sunday - didn't think you wanted to hear from me at that time!). Considering how great the weather was, the fishing was average. We managed to find two new promising spots for the Classic, which is good, but no big girls to speak of. We managed four legal flatties (up to 46cm) and about 6 undersize. The Bream are still there and continue to pepper lures meant for flatties. Besides that we caught Sweetlip, Tailor, Trevally and Pike. A real mixed bag. We had another boat in tow and they followed us into one of our favourite spots and managed 4 legal flatties (again under 50cm).

Not the greatest session, but at least the flatties are starting to show up - and 2 new spots!

    Marty
