For Squire. Try the SE side of Mud Is. There is a line of reef directly in line between the two East Cardinal Marks. Use your sounder to plot the pinnacles of the reef on your GPS. Most of the pinnacles are between 2 - 3 m deep at low tide. Once you have a good set of marks (10 - 15 should do). Set yourself up to drift across the pinnacles. Cast soft plastics ahead of your boat and reel in only enough to keep yourself in touch with the lure. Let it sink naturally until it reaches the bottom then just twitch it enough to keep it off the bottom. Let the boat drift past the lure until it trails behind the boat then reel in and cast ahead again.
Best times are dawn, dusk and the last half of the run out at night.

Jig heads, I use Assassin eithe 1/4oz or 3/16oz (lighter is better, but at mid tide you may need the extra weight to find bottom.
Use light braid line to minimize water drag and allow the lure to sink/swim naturally.
for Tailor, troll 35gram silver slugs along the 3m depth line around the SSE side of Mud (particularly near the creek drains east of the S cardinal mark).
some good advice there, don't be too concerned with gps marks to start with, just get used to using your sounder and setting up some drifts, anchoring can be very hit and miss but you should get enough action on the drift to keep you entertained!
Further to my previous (I had to go out to the boat to check some details)
Gambler 5in minnows in watermelon candy colour or watermelon red and the jig heads were lighter than I thought, down to 1/16 and 1/8 oz (I know 'em to look at but had to go find a packet to read the actual size)
I usually spray the SPs with a scent (aniseed) there are several brands but "Spike It" works well.
One of the big factors here is how many boats are out there motoring around and putting the fish off. Be as quiet as you can and dont motor over the reef your fishing (after your drift motor around the end back to the start). Weekdays are best because there's less traffic.
The best way to build up your own knowledge is to keep notes, every detail (Season, time, tide, weather, recent rain, traffic, bait) When you catch fish (& keep them) open up there stomach and examine what they've been eating.
And when all else fails, or the fish just arent reading the script, just remember
"A Bad days fishing is still better than a good day at work!!!"

Absolutely fantastic info guys. YOU have given everyone who wants to catch some snapper a great start. Thankyou. I want to try to catch some in the near future after I get used to the boat a lot more.
