Don't think he passed it on to me as I had no trouble catching a fish. I Caught 3 squire and 5 bream on my boat. Think maybe my crew might have picked up the curse![]()

Craig (LILTUFFY), yeah showbiz would be interesting with SMUDO that's for sure! Mate, it's about having a great time and the minute fishing becomes a chore, then that'll be when i give it away! The only problem is that everything about it is enjoyable - from buying a new rod/reel/placcie; from jigging/casting for livies or pumping yabbies; from getting the boat ready or dusting off the waders; from getting the call from anyone stating 'when are we leaving?'; from getting your 1st whack of the session; from landing a great fish; from coming home with a bag of fillets; from the smell of freshly cooked fish on your plate ready to be consumed... Hard for any of that to become a chore really...

Thats GOLD.Im ringing my mates to tell them to have a read.
Good read T1, can relate to the rod flying out of the holder and into the drink
Years ago fishing the mouth of the brisbane river. In the rush to get a line out (on my new rod) I forgot to set the drag correctly.![]()
Well without going into to much detail rod takes off and goooone straight into the drink >The mate I was fishing with did a you and LHAO

Couldn't see the funny side back then but after reading your post I had a smile on my faceRod was never recovered but it did teach me to always check the setting on my drag everytime I go to cast in
Peter.
Pete (GREAT WHITE), what i forgot to mention was that SMUDO didn't quite learn his lesson from the 1st experience! He eventually lost the rod in the same manner and dived in after it (in a known shark spot) but never got it back... I wasn't with him on that occassion but you can imagine my laughter when he told me...![]()

Awesome effort !!!
Lucky man!
great report, nice to know that you have a friend that can entertain you.
Great stories T1, The old Wello produces the goods but sometimes takes your gear in return...lol
Has happened to myself and a mate so i guess thats part of the fishing experience.
You live and learn but that can be expensive so make sure that rod stays in the holder when not attended to.
Cheers Brent
Reminds me of what I didnt include in my Coochie report of a week ago.
Mate holding No.1 rod when No2 in the holder goes off.
Puts No1 on his lap and grabs No2. The fish heads for my side of the boat so mate stands up and eventually lands 42cm squire.
"Wheres my other rod " he says. Neither of us saw it go but in standing up he tipped it into the drink. 9 at night and the other boats must have thought we were mad shinning torches across the water looking for it.
30 minutes later after much cursing and a few beers he reels in another peice of seaweed with a bit of line in it. He looks at the rig on the other bit of line, says "this looks like mine" and proceeds to pull the line in. You guessed it. Theres No1 rod bumping against the side of the boat.
Alls well that ends well.
My dictionary defines green as ‘unripe, immature, undeveloped'. Perfect description.
Most political parties are seen as interested in what the voters think, the Greens are seen as thinking the community should be interested in what they think.
How lucky was the rod retreival very well done!!!
Very nice catch also!!
