    What's happening around Peel??

    Hello Ausfishers!!

Just wondering if anyone has any reports of how Peel Island is fishing at the moment.

I was planning to go out this weekend, but put it off because of the rain. DOH!!

But anyway, I might try to get out this weekend coming, weather permitting, and would appreciate any sort of feedback on what is bighting and where.

I have attached a picture of a Squire we caught last time we were there...

    I love Peel...

    Cheers,
    Lunatic.

    Yep, Welcome!

Not enough people post catches that equate to nothing! I'm sure i'm not the only fool who goes out and comes back empty handed?!?!

Hi Lunatic - arn't we all.......
I fished Peel last Fri week for all small stuff (Squire), but you just have to keep trying. Have heard of a few being caught, but few and far between. Lots of Grinners about also.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

If you want me post all the times I go fishing and catch nothing, you will be hearing a lot from me!!

A couple of weekends ago I went out from the mouth of the Brissy River. It was supposed to be blowing 5 - 10 knots. It started off really nice, drifting near the channel, but in the space of 10 minutes the wind came up and the bay turned into a washing machine. Ya gotta be on your toes out there! Ended up bringing home a nice sole that the wife caught, and a cheeky squid that chased my bait to the surface. I was using pieces of gar that I caught in the North Pine dam. That stuff goes off!

Anyway, you will be hearing from me soon. The plan is Peel this weekend, but if the weather looks crappy I might try the sunken wall in the river, apparently it is fishing well (any reports?).

    Cheers,
    Lunatic

    Just another unrelated point...

A few weeks ago I caught a big Morwong (Mother in Law fish).
People say that they aren't really good chewing, but I baked it whole in the oven with onion, lemon, butter salt and pepper, and it tasted tops.

Just wondering if anyone else thinks that they are ok??

    Cheers,
    Lunatic.

and while we are on the unrelated subjects, here is a pic of a haul of crabs that we got in the Maroocy River (secret spot that I can't reveal, it always produces!) over the warmer months this year.

Mate i dont eat fish but the wife reckons the old morwong isn't to bad to chew on, although she prefers it when i bring her home pearl perch.

    A bit off topic, but................

Just looking at Lunatic's crab pic.

The 3rd muddie from the front appears to be a left-hander.

i.e. Its left claw is more developed than its right.

I thought all muddies were right-handed.

anyone else seen any left-handed muddies?

I don't mind the morwong if it's fresh or in fish pie or currey.
