    South Pine River 22/7

    Hi All!
Fished the pine today for about an hour or so with sp's for no result.
We fished a storm water drain that was running out into the river Up from the Bruce Highway Bridge. This was our first spot as we were planning to travel further up toward the petrie bridge and cast snags on the way. Unfortunately a shower came over and the deckie (10yo daughter) made the executive decision of packing it in witht he statement "Dad, girls aren't supposed to get wet fishing. We're supposed to sun-bake."
After that laugh, I couldn't make her miserable, so we headed back!
I spent more time prepping and then cleaning than I did fishing!
It was nice though.. Finally got the trim sorted out on the new Tohatsu!

    Hi Jason
you werent the only 1 to bum out at the pine today I aslo couldnt catch a keeper, 2 toad fish and 1 very under sized flathead,it was the norm at the boat ramp also spoke to 4 other boaties and all of them bombed as well.I put it down to the laugh/frustration at the boat ramp b4 I launched the boat I got there at 2.50 and finally put the boat in at 3.30 due too under educated and ignorant clowns who dont consider other people the first bloke had his bonnet up when I arrived on the ramp he preceded to chat to a few other people then closed his bonnet after about 5 mins and drove out (the ignorant) then the next bloke took 20 mins to get his empty trailer down the ramp load the boat then take off only to leave the boat still in the water( got to hook up that chain) ,it would have been very funny if I wasnt so keen to get into the water and run the boat .o well theres always tommorrow.

I'm pretty sure I've been to that drain before. There is a big pipe that runs across just down river from it. It seems an OK spot, I've caught small flatty there and seen plenty of bait fish along the mangroves.

The Pine was very quiet. I couldn't get anything to touch the variety of plastics I was tossing around yesterday, but I did manage a 30cm flounder on a mullet filet I was soaking. Wierd little fishy

    Thanks guys!
It sure is quiet out there.... We usually manage a flattie, or a couple of small bream..
Size is of no concern as the fun for the deckie and myself is in the catching..!
That's not to say we don't keep the odd fish :-) We're both keen on flathead!

I opted to drive around to the Dohle's Rocks ramp, as I'm not fond of the DWB ramp or carpark...
I drove straighht on to the ramp to launch and had to wait about 5 mins on return as the guys ahead of me had just arrived back and one of them was on his way up the ramp as we came in.

I find most people on ramps to be reasonably well organised, but then again, I fish mainly from the Pelican Park (Clontarf) and Scarborough Harbour (not right beside the mouth ,the other one!) ramps. Maybe the people at these ramps are extra nice? :-) :-) ;-)
If not for the wind and chop I would have launched from clontarf..
Dohles Rocks isn't too bad. A reasonably lengthy, steepish ramp with good water..
I'll use it again in similar conditions! :-)

    Not a bad idea that!
Has anyone done that with a 3.75 Alleycraft Cody?
I'd be interested in pics :-)!
