Cabbage tree / Nunda creek a bit slow

Fished the run in tide up Nunda creek on friday arvo for a couple of hours with an old mate . Tried a few locations over the three hour session, things were pretty quiet in general although there were a lot of small bream around, most less than 20cm.
Started out by netting some livies, got at least 20 poddy mullet with first throw of the cast net, i was feeling pretty good with that haul and was sure it was a good omen

We headed a couple of K's up the creek on a bend out of the wind, Nice spot for relaxion but no bites at all after an hour or so. So tried a few other favourite banks and snaggs on the way back, all to no avail . We ended up on the rubble back near the mouth , where we picked up 8 nice whiting between the pair of us (All on live worms). Also scored a 50cm flattie on a poddy mullet. . Lost a couple of mullet to other fish before bailing out when it got dark (forgot the torch and lights for the tinny) . Oh well beats the hell out of watching TV I guess.

They also say " the worst days fishing is better that the best day at work"

Anyone had any success on the Shorncliffe Pier, used to be this time of the year Bream and Squid were the order of the day or night??

A work colleague and I headed out from Cabbage Tree Creek early last Saturday morning (5am) with the intention of heading over to Mud Island, just south of the Brissy River mouth. Got half way and it got too rough. So headed back and decided to checkout the Pine River.

We fished frozen bait from the mouth near the Hornibrook Bridge right up past the mouth of the South Pine River. Not a lot happened. The mate got a nice 50cm lizard on a strip bait and I got a small Tailor.

All in all a very quiet trip. I must amit though the weather was all over the shop - sunny then overcast with a bit of wind.

    Cheers,
