    day/night snapper redcliffe

    Hello fellow ausfishers,

On Saturday we went out to Redcliffe to see if we could catch any snapper for dinner, we got out to our spot where we had a little throw around of plastics but caught nothing. As we went up to our pike spot, the wind got up a bit by the time we got there it was blowing at least 20 knots which wasn’t on the forecast for today, so we stopped for some live bait and the wind got stronger and stronger and then the anchor came off so in comes the anchor and hold up where’s the pick? the Dshackle come off and then luckily we had another anchor which was a sand anchor that we found a couple of weekends ago with some old rope on it, so out it goes and then 5 mins later we see that its been cut of on the rocks, so off we go back home to put the boat up and go get a new anchor.

Later that afternoon when the wind had dropped off a bit we headed back out to Redcliffe, we went to the pike spot and caught a few pike and we headed to our new spot for a night fish. We anchored up on a bit of reef and sat there for a while. We pulled up three wobbegongs and then we decided to move a few meters.. We sat there for a bit and then my rod start screaming and doubling over. After a 5 minute fight and pulling it back out of the rocks I pull in my PB snapper so far at 61cm.
We took a couple of pics and put it in the esky. We sat there for a little while longer and caught nothing. So we went home about 830pm.

On Sunday morning, we went out to the pike spot again and caught some pike for live bait. We went back to our new spot and anchored up and burlied up. 10 minutes later we had a 45cm snapper in the boat, things were looking god but not for long. We sat there a bit longer with baits out and my dad throwing plastics around. My dad (rainbowrunner) had a nice hit on plastics then another hit and hook up and in comes a nice 52cm specimen in to the esky it goes. We had a few more runs and missed them and then started getting sharks again so we went over to a spot that we’ve been looking at and had a bit of a plastics session and caught nothing decent. We went home and packed up all in time for the football.

    Cheers,
    Bassamundi

Give a man a fish, he'll eat it and fall asleep.

Teach a man to fish and he'll endanger an entire species
