    Bay islands PB bream

Headed out today from the wello ramp with a friend from work. Had a quick flick around the drop off for half a dozen throw backs before i decided to head north. Spotted a school of mac tuna off green but they were up and down before i could get within 200 yards of them. We moved into the coral structure where Glyn was quick off the mark picking up 2 healthy squire going 45 and 43. they run like scalded cats in 2.5 metres of water. We moved in closer casting into 1-2 foot of water picking up the occassional bream when i hooked up onto what i called a solid lizard or a big bream which turned out to be the later. Though it took a good amount of line it fought surprisingly slugish compared to the 30-35cm bream i had been picking up in the same spot which where normally not content unless they had run you into a piece of coral or oyster encrustered rock. Anyway after a brief but tense battle we lifted a lovely 42cm bronzed bream into the boat. We headed up to mud where I managed a nice estuary cod but was unable to tempt any more bream (this is possibly due to the water quality as it was much clearer and the bream were spooking very easily). Though we hadn't caught large quantities of fish we were more than happy with the quality and left the bay to the increasing number of yachts around 1 oclock.
