Ballina Sat 30-7
Fished the Richmond river Saturday morning. I was using SP's. I started out with 2" Shrimps in Nuclear Chicken colour. Fished along the walls near the RSL. The water was pretty dead looking with no surface action, so I headed downstream a little to the porpoise wall. still very quiet so I changed over to 2" gulp power grubs in pumkinseed. Straight away I got 2 small trevally. 10 mins. later and a couple of ok bream..ten mins later 1 flathead. It was looking ok now....if only I knew that was my last fish, I would have called it quits at 8am.
I kept fishing until 12:30 with no other fish. I tried the canals at west Ballina. the town rock walls, the porpoise wall, the boat harbour and fishery creek.
A very slow day in all. Nearly all the hits I got were converted!!! I think that with the final of the ABT here in a few weeks the place has been hit pretty hard, the fish are getting a little shy. Saw about 5 other boats out fishing all the same spots as me. talked to a few and were all having a quite day...BTW Anyone seen the new boat in the area 'skeeter' nice looking boat that one!! Sean. Sorry no pics.
