    40cm Flattie from Bris River

    Gidday all,
on a whim decided to have a flick session down between Pinkenbah & Sunken Wall. Parked up at the ramp and walked down past the cement works and maybe another 500m further.
I have been trying different berley over the last few weeks and have hit upon a winner. Cheap & nasty tinned tuna flakes mixed with WHITE bread. (The cheaper it is the more flaky it is).
Lobbed about a cup of mix out (about 50m upcurrent),bolted back to my spot and sat back to wait for the action. Not having ever been there before I was n't sure what to expect. True to form the wind picked up the moment I tied my first placcie on- but I persisted and eventully it paid off after about 10 mins.
Being a mug, I forgot my squidgy-cork (I keep all my jigheads on a wine cork- just push the hook points into the top of the cork, you can fit about 10 jigheads per cork, different coloured corks for different weight jigheads ) so I rigged up a small ball sinker ahead of a 4" Berlkey Atomic Chicken. Best results came by casting, counting to 10 and slow lift-jerk retrieve. This fella nailed my placcie about 3m away from the bank!
Not long after I was HAMMERED by a monster- got one brief glimpse before he shook his head and swam away, barbless will do that to you.... Must have been 60cm minimum... >
Got a small pike on the way back under the pylons of the cement plant, went about 23cm- was n't sure of the size limit so he went back to fight another day....
Might give it another try for sunrise tomorrow- If you see a fella wearing a white trakkie top, give me a wave!
    jim

P.S. Can't rave enough about my $30 Saratoga reel from eBay- feels like an old Abu threadline I used to have. Have the model 3 sizes up too, drag's as smooth as a pair of French knickers mate!
