Bramston Beach And Mourilyan Harbour 5/6

G'day,

Spent the weekend on the coast, which was a release from the Freezing cold night and friggin schoolwork. Facing cranky teachers and shitty assignments 2moro will be fun .

Heres a very breif report... Im going to bed early 2nite to watch the F1.

Brought and used my newish Viva Harbour Surf Reel matched to a 14' Big Breaker Rod, which I landed 3 nice whiting (1 keeper) with on Saturday night on the beach at Bramston. Found a 2nd hand rod and reel on the rocks, Shimano Spectrum rod matched with a tiny spin reel which had 3/4 spool full of 3kg (estimate) line late last night. If its yours, PM me. The reverse bearing in the reel is rooted, so you can have it back . Used that combo this morning to pick up another 3 whiting (2 keepers). Biggest whiting overall went 38cm, with the the other 2 keepers going 35 and 34cm.

Fished Mourilyan Habour this morning on the outgoing tide (about 11am). Very low water, but managed to pick up a few Trevally from the wharf. Great fun on the little combo i found. Had one HUGE hit which nearly took me to China . I wanted to throw the trevally back as I thought they were too small, but my mother insisted i take em home, so that we did. Largest one went 35cm, others went 32 and 30cm. Just ate them about 20mins ago, great eating. Didnt feel good for taking them, thought they should of belong back in the drink.

The Pic's were taken back here in Wondecla, as my mother forgot the camera when we were down on the coast > . She paid big time for that... . Sorry for the quality of the pic's, they arnt the best and I havnt had any sleep in quite a few days so im off to bed! Cya's, and sorry for the quickish report.

Cheers Dan. They were bloody nice eating, cooked em' to perfection. The Trevally were lots better though.

Might be down at Bramston or there-abouts in 2 weekends time again, though we may have other plans. A mate told me a spot other then Bramston near Innisfail which is extremely productive for Whiting, and told my Uncle about it and he couldnt stop laughing. "What is it mate, whats so funny". "Well, that was going to be a secret kept to myself and a few others, but you can fish there. Tell anyone else about it and I'll cut your big toe off" .
