    SURF FISHING - KAWANA AREA

    Greetings Ausfishers,
I am planning to wet a line on the beach up Kawana way, and I was wondering if anyone has heard of much action in the surf, or around the rocks at northern end, mouth of the River area.
    cheers

Tried all the way from there to Mudjimba using all types of bait over last 6 weeks and have caught nothing except tiny darts.. Haven't seen much caught either.
And you have to put up with people constantly walking by and asking whether you've "Had any luck"??
If I had any luck.. There would be 5 minutes of peaceful fishing..

Well I went to Kawana on Sat arvo.
Got there at low tide ... 4pm.. to see a very big wide gutter the length of the beach.
Not much action... we were trying for tailor. we had a couple of decent hits... but could not convert them into fillets.

On dark there was a bit more action, but they were fussey bights.. probably harder to pick the bite , as the tide was bringing the baits in toward us as well.
My m8 has a better feel for the sport and converted 4 into fillets
a couple of reasonable fish about 1.5kg.
I had a couple of decent runs but still could not convert.
Still it was a fantastic way to enjoy the sunset and the moonrise...
