    Peel Thurs 17th

I got a phone call this morning at 4.45 this morning and realised that I had slept in . Meanwhile I had a mate from work “funky” and fellow ausfisher Tim Donselaar waiting at the ramp . #God did I feel like a dick! We were fishing by about 5.45am on the southern side of Peel which has produced squire for me on numerous occasions. On this occasion nothing to write home about – only produced one 38cm squire on a 4inch Gulp in pumpkinseed. #Tired of that decided to head to a spot (xyz) on the northern side of peel and fished there for probably a further two hours

Highlight of the day was Timbo’s line going zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz with massive amounts of line peeling of his reel, he’d hooked monster of a fish #(what we thought was definitely a 5-6Kg Snapper) and would have definitely been a pb for the man!! #About five seconds after I had mentioned do you want me to lift the anchor and chase him, the bas**ard spat the hooks, and sounds of ohhhhhhh ohhhhh ohhhhhhh swept across out boat #> > >– you’ll get the big one next time tim! The result was 3 squire 36-39cm, a couple of small tailor, about 10, 000 pike and a massive snapper lost! #Last two squire were caught on tims “secret” bait – and the rest on plastics. #There is definitely some unfinished business at Peel!

All in all a great day on the water, great to meet a fellow ausfisher tim learnt a few things from you buddy, and great to spend quality time with you too funky, next time, you gotta learn to relax a little when trying to have a pee over the side buddy, it might come out then

    Tight lines

PS #- Thought I’d include a pic of a snapper which I found taking a look through some old photos - caught in port phillip bay Vic last November (last pic) – didn’t get a chance to measure or weigh him but its definitely my PB Snapper!

thanks for the trip mick it was good to meet you guys, you and "FUNKY" are funny bastards, how funny was it when "FUNKY" kept getting snagged every 2 minutes and losing jig heads like you had an endless supply

pumpkinseed 3" and 4" swimming mullet were definatly the best sp's of the day, whatever it was that i lost was a decent size i cant believe how much line it stripped with the drag set so tight.

anyway mate make sure you dont tell to many people about that secret snapper bait, and tell "FUNKY" to get himself a decent sp combo with some braid oooohhhh and heaps of jigheads #

    cheers tim #
