Kayaks on the roof Jeb and I headed down to Coomera for a fish, just on daybreak armed with two breamin outfits 1500 reel spooled with 4lb fire 4lb & 8 lb yamatoyo leader.after a few cast I landed my first bream of the session 26 cm to the fork, but what was about to follow I thought I could only Dreammm of.The next pontoon the water erupted with bait fish being bailed up and smashed Iwent to cast a 6"Gulp sandworm I was using for bream but remembered I had pink 3" Ecogear Paddletail rigged up unweighted for top water fishing on the other rod.
I quickly got cast away& started to retrieve when this massive bow wave rose up behind it,my reel begin to scream nearly spooling me on it first run I stop the spool with my hand & I took off down the river being towed about 12 knots with Jeb paddling hard to keep up with me.Luck went my way staying out in open water then it was at stalemate for over an hour I couldn't lift him off the bottom with 1-3 kg rod.Pulsing round &round the kayak with the drag set right the rod felt like it was going to explode creaking & groaning my first sight of colour I thought he was around the 4 kg mark. With Jeb waiting to help with landing the fish slowly coming to the surface passing his kayak he look at me and said your kidding it's a BUS,then pasing me I got my first good look at the Beast .
Then with the adrenalin reaching a new high Jeb pulled off a great tail grab to land it.About 2 hour of intenifying rush that fishing junkie like myself never thought possible a plastic surgeon couldn't get the smile of my face a 96 cm 9. 8 kg trevally . Cheers fishbrain
