Hi guys,
Thanks again for all the replys about my successful fishing trip, I hope every angler gets the chance to experience a fish of a lifetime. It was a feeling that I can not discribe and I will never forget. I owe this experience to my cousin Jim who has proven to be the world's best netter, his big one is just around the corner.
Nice fishing

Hey Chris,
Just reiterating what everybody else has said on this site and congratulate you on a job well done. I was lucky enough to actually be there when you caught it and it was truly a fantastic catch ( and great driving by Jimmy). I was actually on the phone to your brother in law at the time some 100 metres away and he could hear you.
As nathan said I just had one of those days loosing 2 really good fish. I too was using the turtle back 4 inch but unlike you I was using a 2/0 hook. I think the turtle backs work really well around mud especially where there is little or no run. Saying that however I lost both of my big ones on a new type of 5 inch plastic. I think they are called Hardnose or something like that and I will definitely be getting some more of them.
It was also the first time nathan and I have fished the afternoon as normally we get out there around 4.30 in the morning. We arrive probably 20 minutes before you and lost the big one second cast of the day.
Next time you will have to drive your boat and take Jimmy out as a good skipper always leads his crew to the fish, isn't that right Jimmy.
Once again well done.
Well done hsv very nice work - the type of fish i dream of catching![]()

AAAAAAAArrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhh
I went to mud for the first time on sunday. drifted (very slowly- no current no wind) along the edge in 3-6mtrs on the NE down to the SE corner. 2 pinkys less than 20cm and a few rainbow runners. had a 4in Atomic Glider worm in blue pearl pepper rigged on a 2/0 mustad megabite with a tiny splitshot clipped to the belly of the hook. Not a touch. tuna cubes were getting picked off too quick. pillies were not much better on either a 3 gang set or a two hook sliding snell rig.
I took my 2 Bro' inlaws out and caught nothing but sunshine.
I'll be back next weekend to give it another go..........weather permitting.
cheers, roo.
Yes Roo, But you will have your good luck charm this week!!.....ME!!
And you did neglect to mention the Grinner you caught while you were out too.![]()
You are still the "Grinner King" honey!!
LOL Kim.![]()
Great googleymoogley your lucky that thing didnt catch you.
Well done, you've made my mind up about whether to try the turtle back worms or not.
Magnificent fish Jonesie,
Looks like you're struggling to hold it up - well done, seems you and Jimmy have mastered the technique
