I guess you noticed a dramatic reduction in fuel costs using the electric did you? Staying in your favoured strike zone without having to start the main motor again and again in order to start another drift has to be the way to go.

You've got me all keen now to go get one - just have to work out how to mount it.... Steve I noticed you cut your safety bars... interesting - do you still have room for the anchor well? - I think my bow is too high for a bow mount though - and walking through the cuddy cab with all my crap in the way might be a pain to lower and raise... so keen to see the transom mount.

G,Day Brian, Yes mate a huge reduction in fuel costs but the best part was this Minn Kota has an auto pilot so you just aim for a beacon an the leccy holds that course.
Another plus is the whisper quiet noise so you won't spook the fish.
We can't wait to get over to Mud and find baitfish holding on the bommies.
We will be able to stay in the strike zone longer now.
Adam i will try to post the 625 transom mounted electric pics next weekend if possible.
Depends if my mate decides to venture out.

Looks like you got the fish we couldn't find on Saturday morning! Interesting you got these in 2m as i didn't think anything came from that shallow - as i've not had much success in that depth at Wello.

Nice fish mate. About the electic on the bigger boats I think you will find them a bit hard to use with a bit of wind being mounted on the transom. If you can get a bow mount on i would do this as it pulls the boat around. Depends if you can get a long enough shaft. The transom mounts have to fight the wind to much to turn the boat. Just a thought.

T1 Mate i have been working most Saturdays of late but have managed the odd trip now and then.
Been giving Wello a miss for awhile and concentrating on the big Mud Snapper.
It was about this time last year that Wello started to produce good squire so looks like you may see me out there more often.
Tinn, We encounter a variety of species during the summer months around the Wello area.
Squire, grass sweetlip, moses perch, school and spotty mackerel, sharks, estuary cod, morwong, sand flathead and even the long tails pass by close to the reef edge.
You need plenty of sun screen because its like sitting in a frying pan some days...lol
If you think the squire pull hard on the light gear wait till you get a 40cm grassie !!!!!!!!!!
You have to be quick with the grassies because they head straight for the structure and its all over red rover.

PS: Mud/Green also holds some nice Grassies too in summer...
Great White you will find he Grass Sweetlip up on top of the Wello reef in the shallows but be prepared to lose jigheads.
If possible just use a hook with no weight and it will drift very slowly around in the current.
Grassies are a little more challenging on plastics because they really use that tail to power through the water.
I find no; 1 heavy wire hooks have a better hookup rate because the grassies mouth is smaller than the squire and they have a habit of sucking in the plastics and spitting them out quick smart if they feel any weight.
