    Coomera River 15/10/06

Fished the coomera river today with a few friends, landbased using SPs.
Got to the spot at around 10 30am and fished untill 2pm.
We found a few bream early but then it did slow down for a few hours with fish coming every now and then. During this slow period I did manage to add a new species to my list of fish caught on SPs.. an estuary cod about 28cm, not big but its a start.
Once the tide picked up, the bream came back on the chew and we got a few more before we had to leave. We all got fish on our last casts , sadly we had to go

At the end of the session we had caught 24 Bream, 1 Cod, a small Trevally and a small Queenfish between the 3 of us.
The bream werent huge, with the biggest only going about 30cm, although I did get busted off by something BIG towards the end...cant expect much with 4lb leader i suppose.

The fish were caught on 3inch powerbaits in a few different colours and a few gulps. All fish were released

Heres da pic of the Cod.. my first

Biggest Bream went 31cms thanks you very much . Good Cod though. Biggest I have seen first hand on a lure. I also caught my first Queenie. Felt like a solid Bream only to reveal a skinny little Queenie. Not a bad thing though!

Hi-Yo: Nar, definately a Bream. Not a Jack. The Bream were schooling and it was hit after hit every cast. Also it was just under a pontoon. Not to say Jacks don't live there because they do. Just seems very unlikely to be a Jack.

thanks guys, it was a good day out on the water. Pritty slow in the morning untill the tide started to come in, then it was one bream after another. Just a shame we had to go.

Good session guys. I get lots of cod in that area. The jacks and cod tend to stick to the same area on the Coomera, especially if there were rock walls around. Id say jack got you.

Unfortunately, you cant go for bream and jack, youve gotta decide which leader you want to use.

    Well done anyway,

    Andrew
