    good fish loss

i was down at the currumbin river this morning and i had my bait caster out with a small dead herring out on it ment for a bream while i was fishing with my other rod, it was out there for a while so i decided to wind it is because i thought i had not bait left. as i started to wind i felt a big dead weight then zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz then ting!!! the 10lb braid line was cut through. i think it might have been a big big faltty because it did not get any bites and as soon as i started to wind it ran. but if it was something else with teath e.g. mangrove jack it would have run straight away befor i picked it up. i was fishing a drop with yabbies on the bank. can someone suggest what it could have been. should i use leaders and if so what lb.

    any suggestion would help.

    thanks nick

G-day mate i reckon you had yourself a lizard sitting there chewing on your herring. As for leaders, i only use 12lb when throwing plastics but when bait fishing your probably better off with around 20lb for the lizards. Hope this helps ya bud.

    Cheers Whytey
