Grunter or Javelin Fish,they go good on the chew with nice big bones making them easy to find while filleting. we caught a few of the wharf at mouth of brissy river last winter but havn`t heard of many caught recently, size limit is forty five cm ( I think)so you`ve just scraped in well done nice fish.
It's a grunter bream alright, they are great eating and have sort of a chicken texture. You would be surprised of the number of grunters there are at the mouth of the river i've propably caught 8 within the past 12 months all ranging between 4 and 6 kilo. I don't think you would see too many bigger than the 1 you caught mate.
