I would have to say that is one the biggest grunter I think I have seen.
Do they get any bigger ? As with all the time that I spent fishing up north while working away. I have never caught one that big.

Wow. Nice fish and well done. Have caught grunter in the Pin before but not that sort of size though. Actually it was my daughter that caught them. Can't steal her thunder now can I?

He who aims at nothing is sure to hit it.
Yep Javelin fish - common name Grunter bream - and what a beauty... they are great eating too - after having one of those you'll throw the snaps backJust my opinion... Well done Alleycat to you and your boy!!
Hit mud this afternoon lumpy as... and no fish either...

Give a man a fish, he'll eat it and fall asleep.
Teach a man to fish and he'll endanger an entire species
Nice grunter, I've heard of them reaching around 80cm. They are a top feed.
Excellent catch on a plastic young fella.
I bet it gave your arms a good workout.
Enjoy the meal.
Cheers Brent
They pull hard too! That one would've been a cracker of a fight!
Nice catch mate!

My Gosh...
I must admit this grunter is my top number one estuary fish eating...
Thanks for report and I'll get my boat ready next month to focus grunter rather than squire @ mud...
Happy fishing

Thanks a lot fellas and yes he was stoked as was i for him catching it as they have a very powerfull tail and fight like hell, rod was a dropshot 7ft 2-4kg and was happy for him too have caught it on such light gear, told him when he caught it that he would remember it for life, one thing about mud its a big area to work out and i have a fair idea of extent of reef to east of island and will suss out the northern extent next time, oh and any idea when the spotties turn up in bay?.
Bet he new that was on the line....Well done![]()
