    just back from Caloundra

Just got back from 10 days in Caloundra, did a bit of spinning in the Passage, got miles of Flathead around the Powerboat club (did not keep any, although many were on the large size) had a fish in a mates boat out from Mooloolaba, got a good lot of Snapper and Sweeties, the wind was a bit of a pain but hey, Holidays are good regardless of the weather huh!

Sounds like you had a good time and managed a few good sessions. Good to hear!

I might have to give this so called power boat club a try. Did you try any plastics?

yes, I only used plastics, I got some kind of brownish Squidgies from the tackle shop in the main street, about 3 inches long, started at the powerboat club and walked towards Caloundra, got about 5 to 8 fish each day I went, and found the run out tide the best, got a really big one (I guess about 4KG) near the boat hire guy at Golden Beach just across from the little take away shop there. had a look at the bridge near the Power boat club, not too sure what it is called and managed a couple of smallish Trevally, around halfish to a kilo and got taken around the pylon by something, all in all a good trip from what was a "non fishing" holiday.

had a kind of funny thing happen too, I was walking along casting as I went, when I came across a "tourist" type of fisherman, he had a long beach rod, about 40LB line and a sinker that you would use in 5 knots of current at "the banks",and a great lump of mullet for bait, he asked what I was up to and I just sort of "chitty chatted" to him and he sort of doubted that my plastic could actually catch anything, I had a cast right where he was to show him how it swam, hehe thats when I got the 4KG model I mentioned before, he nearly pooped his pants and asked if he could have a go, we walked a little bit on and he got one about 30CM long, I think he was "hooked" from then on, i saw him the next day with a new spin outfit and a bag of Squidgies

nice to here the flatties are back at it again, they were a bit quite for me in that section over winter. That spot infront of the boat hire has almost always produced for me. Was the first spot I took my girlfriend to fish as I knew she would catch a flatty there on plastics

Lol, wasn't the first date, but I did manage to get out of a christmas present dilemma by buying a fishing rod for her last christmas! She still fishes regularly with me which is great
