    Tuesday bay run.

Got a call from Cheech for a Tuesday afternoon run to mud. Tide was right for a 5.30 departure, work and traffic saw me at the ramp 22 minutes late( sorry mate).

I detoured to morgans for fresh bait but could only get thawed mullet tubes and 2nd rate pillies ( really bummed, has anyone got a source of fresh bait ATM??? unless we have time to catch it, we,ve struggled to get "fresh" the last few trips.)

Pretty lumpy going across to mud an quite rolly when we put the pick down, conditions slowly eased till we called stumps 9.30.
The tide was well on its way down when our first baits hit the water, and after we got our burley working we started to boat a few fish.

Not as good a session as Ive come to expext fishing with Cheech, but steady just the same.
Craig had a horror session with snags/ bustoffs, he must have been fishing a very rough patch, I did better in that department ,but he still outfished me 2:1.
We ended up with 6 nice fish, best about 48 I think.
We both dropped a good fish each. Craig bitten off, mine ,, braid snapped above the bimini twist, probably touched some structure as the gear was working well, not too much drag and the reel starting to smoke on a good run( just love that sound).

Great night to be on the bay. Thanks again mate
    Cheers

    Got any pics?

Yes bait really has been an issue the last couple of months, along with the constant northerlies. So had to take a mid week run when the opportunity showed half a chance of getting a fish.

I suppose carma played a part in me loosing my snapper after giving a bit of a ribbing to Rob after he lost his.

    Yeah Pitsa
Cheech knows how to find em. !!!
Last couple of times weve been smoked by unstoppables at least once in the session. Only a matter of time and I will put the brakes on one, Cheech already has a few notches on his pistol,so I reacon my turns coming.

SS, east yes, ledge no. I prefer the open flat areas as I think they tend to graze. Would love to see what really goes on down there and movements they make, but my picture is like a big cow paddock and the fish moving around within it. They are always there, but just sometimes in a different section of the paddock, sometimes eating, sometimes sitting under a tree resting, but there. Be the farmer with a bail of hay, and all of a sudden they are interested in feeding. They just need to know where you are.

Is just a theory, but you have to have theories.

We have also picked up good fish near the north cardinal. Also at the regular west areas, though I find that the west can be a bit hit and miss and better suited to plastics. The trick is to get all the little things right. Has taken quite a while to get to know what is needed for a particular area such as wind, tides, moon phases, time of day, preferred bait etc.

Probably a bit more than answering the question. Just rattling on.
