Has Anyone Caught a Bigger Bream?

Nice fish lads.

Down at our winter spot in 2001, we caught a 1.8 kilo bream off the beach while the tailor were running. We were chuffed and headed up to the local to weigh it in..

Only to be outclassed by a local master who landed a genuine 2 kilo bream.

I have some footage on an old video tape that i will try and freeze frame for a photo.

That is a massive bream. I wouldn't want to run into that in a dark alley.

You've beaten me by 3cm! My best was 42cm off the tanga jetty on 6lb line. Was bloody happy just to lift him to be honest. They are a thumping good fight at that size and run for cover like there's no tomorrow. Great fish.

Well done mate thats a very solid bream... Caught a 46cm version last winter on a 5inch snapback near the mouth of the tweed whilst chasing trevally, but thats the best i've done by a long shot.

The biggest i have caught is a 44cm about a year ago down at southport
My Wife Tammy is in the photo as i had to hold the camra and also she is far better looking then me

Correct me if I am wrong, but is the world record for these bream 8lb 8oz, caught near Bald Point which is close to Tom Ugly's Bridge in sydney? Was many years ago I believe, but then my memory is ooooooooolllllllllllddddddddddddddd

misssus caught one 47cm from goat island years back but havent seen one that big for a while.

I will seriously try and get the footage off the video, and we have caught numerous large Brim on mullet while the tailor have been firing.. Especially in colder waters.

I honestly didnt measure the length, but on the scales they were that weight no word of a lie, the largest one when cleaned had 13 pippies in its gut.

When I worked out of Tweed heads on a charter boat I'd keep all the gut and gill to feed the bream back at the wharf.each day they would hear the boat and come out,over would go the gut& gill and it would be a frenzy.I know water magnifies them but there would be some big buggers hanging back we estimated to be arond 50-60 cm.people would always try to fish for them with no luck.I suppose that's how they got so large ,by not being stupid.

I've seen the same thing at Iluka under the old wharf. They won't go anywhere near the hook lol.
