Went out for whiting but got JACK

I spent the saturday on Bribie beach chasing whiting but could only get small ones. So I decided to go up Coochin to try for some on last of the run in tide (got a 31cm last sat ). I got there a bit late, just on turn of tide but decided to stay anyway and use my worms up.
Was catching lots of small grunter bream but not much else. then as i was tying a new hook on my livefibre rod my other rod went zzzzzz. stop . Put the 1st rod down. Wait .... [smiley=undecided.gif]
Next thing zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz click click zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz click click click zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz(oops no more drag to set as i am only using 8lb braid with an 8lb trace on a Shimano Squigy Spin rod with a no6 long shank hook) Ok just hang on, must be a ray?
No, did a turn sideways into the snags! What tha?
Released the anchor rope to try to get closer to the snag and get some line back. Dam almost but no more rope.
Wait he is moving..... flash of color.... JACK no way cant be ..yes JACK it is
He moved out from the snag and I played and played until I could get a landing net on him.
My first ever JACK ....... 57cm......3kg.......YES... [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

I hear ya mate ,,,, I have put in some big hours and $$$ of late and still no jack thats not so bad,,, but having bates-H telling me about his jack every time we go fishing together
