Landed my first Jack this morning just on dawn on a popper. It was undersized, and yes it did go back, but i was still happy to get one under my belt. Got it under the Pacific Motorway on Tallebudgera Creek. I was really happy that I got it on my 3rd cast on a new rod I got particually for Jacks.

Very Happy. Still yet to test the drag on a big fish but it casts beutifully. I get twice the distance I did with my old baitcaster(shimano calyx that was a gift so I don't know how good it was) and as long as I set it right and don't try and cast anything under 1/4oz, even that is pushing it, I get no birds nests. I am using 30lb braid and a med-heavy rod though so you my be able to go lighter with lighter line and lighter rod. I'm not sue.Originally Posted by Why-ting

even though the jack is undersized.. at least the rod is blessed with a good fish.. and on a lure! top work!
