Forecast wasnt looking too great for the weekend, and with a southerly change to blow through on saturday arvo sometime, we decided to fish coochin for the turn of the morning high. From the ramp we went up stream almost around to the campgrounds, fished quite a few spots for nothing. With the run out tide and the s/e winds, we were able to hang off lots of snags but still no fish. After a couple of cold pizza slices for lunch, we move downstream from the ramp. Still able to hang of snags using the wind and current countering each other, it was a little while before we actually found some fish. At one fallen tree, I cast in my 5 inch nuclear chicken jerk bait on 1/8 jighead, it slowly sank all the way down and after a couple of twitches the rod loaded up and I soon had a 46cm dusky in the boat. This time we remembered the net, and as it was coming over the side, the plastic comes out of its mouth, I take this as a sign and cheekily throw it right back where it came from while chris is dealing with the fish in the net. Again as soon as it hits the bottom, im on, this time it feels bigger, "hang on" says chris, "I havent got the first one out of the net yet", "no probs brother, I'll just let this one swim a bit". We finally netted a 55cm dusky, this one rasping through the leader as it comes over the side. Nothing all morning then 2 in two minutes! By now we can hear the rumbling of thunder in the distance, and a quick call home on the mobile, reveals that a line of storms is moving in our direction, so off we go back to the ramp and are on the road home just in time for the storm to open up, giving the boat a bit of a wash on the highway home.
