the whiting were pretty hard work, with only one or two coming from each drift....and the area was crawling with macs...akin to what others have said with you being able to sight the fish swimming around the boat....this one fell to a pillie floating under a cork

Great feed there. We were in an orange Oceaneer that we have just finished rebuilding. Did not see you out there. Heaps of macs just not enough takers

the whiting bit all day, but as usual the best bite was as the tide turns to run out...the mackeral was caught on the 4th drift of the morning, so after dropping the pots it wouldve been around 8.30....i dropped a mack the 2 previous drifts as well

hi neil...ill look for the boat next time we are out....it would be interesting to see what you ended up doing with it....gotta love the centre console but for when those macs decide to run you around the boat....if the predictions stay as is we will be out again on thursday

    Re: day at the sandhills

    hi all,
top feed there. were the crabs full. i ended up over there sunday about 10am looking for mackies with another fisher (boat, red tiller ).we kept getting bitten off with slugs and pulling spoons.i ended up drifting out pillies.got 3 good doggies and 1 spottie 960mm long. there were some BIG mackies hammering the bait fish that were only about 1/2 inch long.possibly spanish as i dont think spots grow that big.they were all round my boat but would not touch anything i threw at them. will try again on thursday. might try some small white bait drifted out to see if that works. report later.

    SNAFU.
