Barron River Bridge 10th January 2007.

Well the "Ministry for misery, finance and social activities" mentioned that she would like some prawns for dinner tonight so I went to the bridge this morning to try and placate the good minister

I also had some SP pumpkin seed 3" minnow Gulps to try out as well so i got there about 4:30am and started on the plastics. As I'm learning about these i honestly didn't expect to get anything on them but thought I'd try anyway.

Got some good bites but nothing that would take the hook; had to remove the led jig and go with a plain old hook to entice fish to bite with about a 40cm trace for some reason they wouldn't touch it with the Jig in place but that's fishing I guess. I was right, didn't get a single fish on the SP but I am sure that time and experience will change that...

So with 5:30am coming around I decided I had better start getting some prawns.
All up I ended up with about half a kg of bananna prawns with some really good size ones mixed in with the average sized ones. With that in mind looks like the Minister will be letting me out again in the near future.

Have already teed up leave for the 1st and 2nd February and looking at hiring a boat all day to get my first Barra when the closed season finishes - seriously looking forward to that!

    Tight lines people!!

    Andrew.
    Regards,

Does that big groper still live under and around the jetty just near the higway bridge over the Barron ??

Had him on a hook once, he won easily.
    Cheers

Sure does, I've seen him 3 times lately.

Bet you didn't have much line left on your reel after he swished his tail a few times
