Hey blue-mako well done, not sure if you got him on baitfish or plastic regards "BAR UP".
Nar mate we use live baits for the Threadfin. Were we get them it's too hard to get the plastic to the bottom, even with a 1 ounce jighead. I had a sound around in my kayak last week where we catch them. I never knew, but know wonder they are there. It drops from about 5m to 15m in about a 5-10m paddle. Then about half a meter from the bottom is just a nice thick line of bait.
We got another one last night so we will probably do a report on that one aswell.

Sounds like another great night there fella's! If i can just tear myself away from Wello Pt, i might just try and land myself another Threadie...
Discovered some nice structure at a Xmas function not far from where you guys fish that i'm keen to hit one night soon!

good fish . i will be fishing for them soon as well
Does anyone know what size the threadfin will grow to in the Brisbane river? I know they can reach a good size up north.
Great to see the release of these type of fish. Hopefully they are breeding in the bay/river area.

well done guys got them sussed hey. do they fight hard? never caught one.
LUMOX, surprisingly, they run hard initially but once they run out of puff, it is a case of pump and wind! I was surprised at how quickly it took to land the one in my pic to the left given its size - expected to take a lot longer once we saw the size of it...Originally Posted by lumox

split-shot: They grow pretty dam big! I have only seen a few pictures of Threadfin the same size as the ones we've pulled from the river. My P.B. is 10.48kg but I'm certain there's bigger ones out there.
lumox: Like T1 said. They smoke you to start with then usually swim towards you to get a bit of slack line and throw the hooks. Some just keep going like Stingrays and others take the bait and swim straight to you without even realising there's a fish on it. They take the same gear Barra do but usually go on faster, shorter runs since they are more light weight and speedier.
