Green + st helena today mud tommorow- update

Took a trip out to between green and st helena today and found it pretty quite really, no small squire around at all and only had 2 throw backs all session, anyway brought 3 home between 43 and 47cm, might start going back to my bream gear IE stradic 1000 with dropshot around this area as its just that much more fun the lighter you go, heading out to mud in the morning for quick flick then trying for spotties, will post report if i do ok.

A few nice fish there. Around Green that is not too bad. Early mornings are the best before the place just shuts down. Nicely done Alleycat.

Re: Green + st helena today mud tommorow update

Was up and out early today to mud and managed to better my personal best snapper, previous was 49 and todays was 57cm, not a monster but gave a good account of himself and had the reel humming, got him on a 3 inch atomic minnow and also got 3 others i could have kept, also dont think i will be keeping another fish over 50cm, such a shame to kill a breeder that age for a feed , anyway stopped fishing for them at 6.30am and would have to say it was pretty quite compared to other mornings, anyway went after mackeral at 6.30 over near the first markers into the river north of mud and all morning i barely saw a seagull and there was no surface action at all, i towed a pilly and a soft plastic and got nothing, any tips for me on how to crack my spotty duck? am i in the right area?.

Hi da, i really like the new berkley nitro salt water series in 1/0 in 1/6th oz, they are the strongest hook in that range i reckon, goes great with the atomics in 12-30 ft of water.

    Hey Alleycat,

It doesn't matter what anyone else says about you, I think you are alright!!

Only joking!! Don't know what anyone else says But I still think you are alright, you share the same respect I have for fish over 50cm, and I still regret having taken my PB home for the dinner table. Take a photo, and let it go!! Hopefully your model will influence enough fisho's, the Greens will one day see the majority with the same attitude and wil abandon the idea of no go zones.

Head out to the 4 beacons and catch a few livies..... that should break your duck!
