Saphire,
I think it's another one of those "Americanisms" that refer to sports utility vehicles as the Yanks call them. They are 4WD's that are more of a fun machine than a serious off roader.

Hi Dug,
It would be good to swap stories with you. I guess we could go on forever!!
Please go to the "Wanted" on the chat boards and look for my post called "Air Raid Siren wanted".
Anytime after high noon of a Friday or Saturday mate, if you live in my area.

TOL, I assume you plan to put the Air raid siren in your truck?
Nice idea, but my neighbor is and old german 88 gunner who fought in North Africa with Rommel and was then on AA guns in Berlin.
If he hears an air raid siren he will probably come out shooting.
No way I'm risking that!
PS, SUV = Sports Utility Vehicle.
A vehicle neither suited to Sports or as a Utility vehicle.
only in Uh-Merica.
Recently on a trip up Qld I found out what everyone is talking about and that is the rudness and inconciderate driving practices of Qld drivers not to mention the common dissregard for double lines overtaking on double yellow lines is suicide and I have never experienced so much arrogrance and stupidity in any other state I have been in. This was not just young drivers but drivers from all classes and age groups. Apauling is all i can say. However off road on the 4x4 tracks I found everyone courteous.
Well, if it isn't Bootyou again, lucky you're booted.
Corry
Boot you you have obviously never driven in NSW or Victoria!
PS in Qld we don't have double yellow lines !
This is a bit strange!! He's talking about yellow lines in Qld. Is there an agenda he's trying to push?
So far, he hasn't really contributed anything worthwhile to the site, except to maybe stir up a war of words between the States as to driving habits.
I guess we're all a bit too smart to let that happen.

This isn't the best site to get a cross section of 4wds idiots. Most of us here either own boats and/or go off roading/camping (after all this a fishing/camping website). In other words, people that use 4wds for purposes they are designed for. People here are in the correct group.
What p*sses me off is the people that get giant 4wds as kiddie carriers and ##### enhancers. Hardly, if ever go off road, and just enjoy the power trip and "safety" at the expense of other road users and their children.
To the matrons in monstercars who claim to value "safety" I say "Buy a freaking volvo if you really mean it".
To the blokes with the midlife crisis I say "Buy a red sports car and spend the rest on some rogain and viagra".
