Landy bling parts 1 and 2

    Hello all,

After 100k it was time to remove the Landy's BF Goodrich shoes. I promised myself when I bought her in 2000 that when I changed the tyres I'd replace the steel rims and go for alloys.

5 Years later a set of 265x75 Coopers ATR's now sit upon some 16 inch CSA alloys. Do you know how hard it is to find alloys that can actually fit Landrover hubs?

You might also remember a few months back I also busted a shock and only temporarily replaced it. Opted for new EFS shocks and 50mm oversize King springs all round. The defender was already running 20mm longer springs so the overall lift was around 30mm.

The misses says that the larger tyres and bigger springs now require me to get side steps. Who am I to argue.

And to cap it off the Landy is currently at MR Automotive Redcliffe getting a new Bruce Davis ECU fitted. The horsepower should go from around 75 to 110-120hp.

So still to come: straight through exhaust - sidesteps - buff and polish - maybe just maybe a bigger intercooler but we'll see on that one.

Four wheel burnouts here I come

    Hi Bugman

You may already know of this site, but if you don't, it is to Landy owners what Ausfish is to fisherman.

Wheels look realy good Brett and the lift will make it great off the road. But how about a full side on shot so we know what to look out for.
With the bigger shoes more clearance and some extra right pedal you might now be able to keep up with the Jeeps. (nudge nudge)
    Cheers Kev.

Thanks Dave, only found it a couple of months ago so just a newbie member.

Kev - I don't want to give all my secrets away - hence the close in

Seriously - after riding it around for two days - including towing the boat - it really does packa whollop now.

The change in torque and overall horsepower is quite dramatic. I can't beleive I waited this long.

Where's that Jeep of yours - I hear there are photos

Nice bugman , td5 hey, i did the exahust and recalibrated the fuel pump in my 300 tdi a while back ( the boys ar MR did it ) made a huge difference, highly recomend the straight through exhuast in 2.5 or 3 inch.

i not sure if you have hered of Maxi-Drive Engineering on the gold coast, but they do some awesome stuff for landies. if you are on the beach or 4wd a bit i very highly recomend the axle flanges ( will take a pic of mine ) they lubricate the ends of the axle properly and do away with the little pershiable rubber caps which crack and fall out after a while leaving your axle to start rusting away. you can do a search for them on the net there got a site. ( not sure how they would work with the alloys on thou. )

if you want to know anything landrover look on another great aussie site www.outerlimits4x4.com.au

there got nissan, toyota , suzuki and landie info and fourums.

    Wheel Base is 262.6cm.
The front is standard as per all Jeep.
Just looks longer as the wheels are only 235/15 and the springs are sagged bad.
Longer in the tail for the CJ8 from the rear door edge back.

    Hello
They have got to have the shine off by now, how are they going? Wet? or been on slippery ramps/slides yet??? My update is due for a change, looking very closely at these.
