I mentioned in a couple of posts a few weeks ago that the missus picked up a new Suzuki Grand Vitara... well, we had it rust proofed last week (went with both the conventional/spray type AND the electronic type rust proofing - any questions on rust proofing, I am now your man ) and hit Noosa North Shore on the weekend and I must say, it ate it up!
Having never driven off-road it was all new to the missus and sure enough we were bogged within the first 50m. Once she got the hang of it though it killed it! We hit the beach right on what had to be one of the biggest high tides of the year so we slogged it out for a bit over the soft stuff and had a bit of fun doing it After the tide dropped out, we did the sight-seeing thing and checked out what D.I./Freshwater/Rainbow had to offer. All went well crossing over all the cuttings and I rekon the missus is pretty well hooked now so it won't take too much convincing to get her back on the beach for round two
Anyway, the bottom line of my story is, the Suzuki loves the beach
DC
now ya just gotta work on that obese & conservative thing Dane !
They look very smart. The suzies & the freelander are very capable in the sand. I had a Vitara for one of the straddie classics & it never looked back. You just can't use the big boys tracks. Its much better lining a big 4WD wheel rut down the centre to help the suzie's diff clear.
Yeh cheers Chris, I did notice we were doing a bit of 'ploughing' when we drove back over a few tracks that we had previously been along (when I say tracks I mean the wheel ruts along the beach). It had that tell-tail graded look about it (the old mans first 4x4 was a Nissan 720, bugger all clearance under them too). Will take that tip on-board, thanks. And you never know, we may indeed seeyainthesurf
