    Odd place to sleep

Last Update: Monday, December 19, 2005. 2:01pm (AEDT)

    4WD runs over sleeping beachgoers

Two British backpackers have been injured after being run over by a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle while sleeping on a beach on Fraser Island off south-east Queensland.

A 25-year-old man has suffered head injuries while a young woman has minor injuries.

The two were part of a group of backpackers sleeping in sand dunes near Happy Valley when the accident happened early this morning.

Both received medical aid from a police officer before being transported to Hervey Bay Hospital by rescue helicopter.

Rescue helicopter pilot Craig Meacham says it was an unusual accident.

"He had been sleeping there with his girlfriend on the beach, he didn't realise there was a little 4WD track in the sand dune, a vehicle has come up over the top of the sand dune and hit him," he said.

"He's sustained head injuries and possible broken shoulder or arm and some lacerations."

    its another bloody whingin pom!!
What about the damage on the fourby I hope it was alright.
Its people like this that sew the pub for giving them too much beer.....and suing maccas for making them fat etc etc.I think the best approach is to drag him up on a big stage and have every one point at him and say" Ya Whanka" whos the idiot who falls asleep on a track and is surprised to be run over. Could of been a lot worse......could have been me with my 33 inch claws!

The unfortunate thing is a court case not too different from this one has just gone through in West Aussie.

A guy driving on the highway at night when a bloke jumps out in front of him waving his arms around. Car swerves around the bloke and the driver looks back to feel a bump under the car. First bloke was trying to let the driver know his drunken mate was passed out in the middle of the road.

Judges verdict, victim 70% resposible, driver 30% responsible

Interesting facts down the bottom, but don't want to point them out unless Ronnie sees them...
