bad LPG
i have just had my 2000 prado changed over to LPG and was advised that to stay well clear of BP LPG as it is not up to standard and causing blockage problems, matilda servos also are in the same boat as they buy from the same supplier ,has anyone heard of similar stories.

Re: bad LPG
I've been filling up mostly at my local BP for the last 4 years, as it's the cheapest in my area (49.9 at the moment). Never had a problem yet, from there, Matilda or anywhere else.
Do you mind me asking who gave you this advice? It doesn't sound right to me...
Good luck,
Mike

Re: bad LPG
hi mike it was from the fella who installed the LPG ,they have had a few cars come back with problems with blockages and it keeps coming back to the same dealers, but i cannot prove this as i have not had the gas on for long enough,i hope its not true as i have one very handy to my home to fill up with.

Re: bad LPG
Warrior I read somewhere on a net forum a reply from an X BP refinery fuel maker/worker. He said that the one thing uppermost in the refinery's list of priorities was to ensure the fuel made was of the lowest lawful standard possible, product givaway was to be avoided at all costs.
I would suspect this corporate mentality to exist across the board with fuel makers being the cynic I have become, even mechanic's opinions are like bums these days as proof is too expensive.
Your LPG is probably of the lowest standard possible but no worse than any of the others, besides very often all things petroleum get shared around, often it's only the sign on the pump that is different.

No worries Warrior,
I just wanted to know as I've never heard anything about this, and was interested as I've been using it for so long.
Good luck,

Re: bad LPG
how are you kevin,my prado is a 3.4 petrol it is going really well so far,the installing company was telling me that in some cases with the new efi motors you can get increased power with the gas conversion, mine so far is showing no signs at all of lost power ,hope this keeps up.

Re: bad LPG
Im good thanks m8. I have a 3.4 Hilux, and when i looked at getting gas done on my truck, the local guru said the engine wasn't compatible with LPG and the valves would need replacing in 20,000km or somthing. Did you have issues with this?
Id really like to run on LPG since i tow a heavy trailer everyday, and id be very interested to hear how your economy goes if you would. Any other info would be great

Re: bad LPG
kev i think the LPG will go on anything your hilux should be great, the valve saver they install on the cars will give you similar engine wear as normal .i cannot see how you cannot have it. good luck
