    Turning Indicator lights?

Just on the off chance someone can help quickly...

I drove into work this morning in the 100 series Cruiser, and noticed all of my right side indicators (all four of them) are stuck on solid (ie not flashing).

I can't "reset" them by switching the left on (they don't come on at all), or the hazards on - the right side are still on solid and I can't switch them off.

I've booked it in for a service tomoroow mrning, but if anyone's got any suggestions before I drove home with them stuck on, that would be great. I checked the fuse, the bulbs are ok (both obvious since they're all on). Happens as soon as I turn the key in the ignition even though the indicator lever is in neutral (ie they shouldn't be on).

    All help appreciated.

    Good luck,
    Mike

Is the flasher unit working? Can you hear it?
I would say you either have a dead flasher unit or a bad earth somewhere.

It's not flashing at all, and I can't hear the normal clicking that the indicators normally have when switching on and off. I don't know where the "flasher unit" is, but it does sound like a bad wire somewhere (one side stuck on and nothing coming on on the other side).

Thanks for taking the time mate.

    good luck,
    Mike

    Hmmm....

I turned the spotties on and off, and problem solved. Should make it a bit easier traversing two lanes on the riverside expressway tonight.

    Good luck,

strange, the only place I can think of the problem coming from is possibly the combination switch(indicators/headlights) or the wiring if the driving lights are hooked up under the steering column, just a guess.
Sorry its a bit late cause you should have them fixed by now.

    Thanks mate,

Yeah, it's "fixed" now. I mentioned it to the mechanic doing the normal service yesterday and he reckons the flasher unit could be on its' way out, though he never saw waht oit was doing when it wasn't working.

I reckon the spotlight thing was just a coincidence, but it shows that it's worth trying these things however unlkikely they seem to fix the problem.

    Thanks for the response.

    Good luck,
    Mike

    Re: Turning Indicator lights?

Sorry I should of elaborated a bit more.the flasher can has 12v to it when the key is on but cannot operate any lights till you touch the comb. switch. ie:
it is a "T" 12v from the bottom and the switch switches it left or right (in basic terms)if someone has added driving lights the proper normal way is to access the highbeamwire from the comb.switch ass. and I thought possibly the insulation had rubbed through.the other thing is if your car has keyless entry
and the indicators flash when you use it?this can be scary..Pray it doesnt happen again, best of luck!!!!
