In two threads that are currently running, K & N filters have been recommended to improve performance of peoples 4wds. I have stated in one thread that it is my belief the performance benefits you gain are NOT worth spending the bucks to buy a K & N filter.
I have always used the old style filters and I am more than happy with what they do. Maybe after you read the following, some others may change their minds about K & N.
disclaimer : I am not saying that they are a Sh!t filter, just that they are not designed for 4wd's in mind...they were soley designed for high performance cars with high performance engines.
I had one in an old 92 petrol patrol and changed back to standard filter and it made no difference to the overall running of the 4x4
VERDICT K&N not much chop for your everyday 4x4
