Thinking of fitting a turbo to a 1hz 93 cruiser ute has 280000km on it
has new injectors and pump fitted also done a compression test on it and is spot on nearly right on new spec has anyone fitted one and was it worth it lookin at around 2900 fitted with new exhaust, drive in drive out.
What do u reckon?
I use to repair/fit and sell them for one of the larger companies. They are well worth it if you tow a boat or a van. You will not get any more speed out of it but you will not need to drop down a gear at ever hill after you fit one.
The price you have been quoted sounds about right.. what brand are you looking at??
I was thinking of putting one on mine (same ute, motor), till I found out you will get more power, less fuel ecomony & have to change the oil every 5,000 km instead of 10,000 km. I've got enough power at the moment so I didnt get one, I was after better fuel economy not less.
Fuel use will depend on how you drive it.. Most people when they first get one fitted drive them hard to see what they can "get out of them"
If you drive it normally "if there is such a thing" you will not use anymore fuel. I never had anyone come back and complain after having one fitted, they all liked them.
we have fitted turbo kits to 1hz engines at work and i reckon they are worth it. from driving the car before and after you can feel it. Also just a thought check or change your big end bearings before you do it also check the cam shims in the head for wear they make a big diffance as well(stop smoke and get rid of flat spots). there is two thoughts?
